Andy Clapp writes from a heart filled with a desire for others to come to know the Lord. Throughout the course of his life, he has seen the everlasting presence of God in his life whether he was ministering to youth or even duirng the times when he was running away from God. To sum up the mission of his life, he wants to know God more each day and lead others to the same passion for Jesus Christ.
Andy was born in Burlington, NC on November 19, 1976, the youngest child of Wayne and Rickie Clapp. Andy grew up passionate about sports, playing baseball and basketball until high school. He fell in love with tennis during his sophmore year at Southern Alamance and played collegiately at Mount Olive College. His love of sports and love of the Lord would be the basis for his first book.
Growing up in a small town in rural North Carolina, Andy's walk with God began at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. As his high school years passed, he began to pull away from God and lived a life of rebellion and the life of a world-centered teen and young adult. In 1998, God began to call Andy to come back and in his fourth year of college, Andy surrendered his life to God and devoted himself to the ministry. He experienced various trials and even fell flat on his face, but God continued to use him in a mighty way. After a five year ministry at a church in North Carolina, Andy returned to Mt. Zion to serve as the youth pastor, hoping to help students avoid the same mistakes he had made at their age.
In 2005, Andy began writing for various magazines and online magazines. Prodigal Magazine gave Andy the opportunity to write multiple articles and get started in his career. In his heart, he knew that writing was more than a hobby and in 2009, he received his first book contract with Marshall Trumann Publishers. His first book was written to help himself, and any other man who would read the book, become a better man of God in this generation. He saw the weaknesses in his own life and his own walk with the Lord and shared those in his first book. In September of 2011, Under the Lights was published and Andy's book writing career was started.
Andy is happily married to the love of his life, Crystal Clapp, whom he married in October of 2008. As a graduate of Southern Alamance High School and Mt. Olive College, Andy has remained close to his roots by living in North Carolina all of his life.
